Wolverines Varsity Can’t Hold Up Against Lake Washington

Monday was a long day for Bellevue Wolverines Varsity, as it fell to Lake Washington 9-5.

Lake Washington took an early lead in the first inning. Marissa Ewald homered on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring two runs.

Bellevue Wolverines Varsity knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning. A wild pitch by Tori Bivens scored one run for Bellevue Wolverines Varsity.

Lake Washington took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Olivia Smallman singled off of Kelly Treves, driving in two runs and Treves induced Jamie Pippen to ground out, but one run scored.

Bivens earned the win for Lake Washington. She pitched seven innings, surrendering five runs, six hits, and striking out 12. Treves took the loss for Bellevue Wolverines Varsity. She threw seven innings, allowing nine runs, 12 hits, and striking out four.

Bellevue Wolverines Varsity had six hits in the game. Madi George and Treves each collected multiple hits for Bellevue Wolverines Varsity. Kendall Mecham led Bellevue Wolverines Varsity with two runs batted in. She went 1-for-4 on the day. Bellevue Wolverines Varsity was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Mecham made the most plays with eight.

Lake Washington collected 12 hits. Bivens, Smallman, Emma Rosendal, and Ewald each collected multiple hits for Lake Washington. Bivens led Lake Washington with three hits in four at bats.
