What a start! Bellevue tops Highline in opener

Dejah Rogers went 4-for-4 with three RBI and pitched six strong innings as the Wolverines opened the season with an 8-5 victory over Highline at BHS.

Rogers struck out six and had two doubles.

Freshman Madi George was 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored as the Wolverines overcame an early 4-0 deficit. Freshman Stuart Buxton had two hits for Bellevue. Others who had hits in their first high school games were Amelia Beardsley, Audrey Souders and Priya White.

Highline took a 4-0 lead in the second inning before the Wolverines scored 5 in the bottom of the second to take the lead for good. Beardsley and Souders opened the inning with singles before White singled in Beardsley. Buxton, Sammie Trulson and George all had RBIs in the big inning.

In the fourth, George had an RBI triple and Rogers added an RBI double. Rogers had another RBI double in the sixth.

The Wolverines’ next game is Thursday at Inglemoor.
