Kingco Playoff Game #3 – Wolverines Fights Back In Loss To Juanita – Final Game

Wolverines finish 4th in Division

Wolverines fought back after falling down by five runs in the fourth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in an 8-7 defeat to Juanita on Friday. Wolverines  scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Madi George in the fifth, a ground out by Amelia Beardsley in the fifth, a walk in the seventh, and a double by Beardsley in the seventh.

Bellevue Wolverines Varsity couldn’t keep up with Juanita early in the game. Juanita scored on a error in the first inning, a single by Briar Swayne in the first inning, and a grand slam by Lexi Blackburn in the second inning.

Wolverines  captured the lead in the first inning. With two outs in the first inning Amelia Beardsley drove in two runs when she singled.

In the bottom of the first inning, Juanita tied things up at two. Swayne singled on the first pitch of the at bat in the first inning, scoring one run.

Juanita took the lead for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Blackburn hit a grand slam off of Kelly Treves, driving in four runs.

Wolverines  scored three runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk and a double by Beardsley.

Megan Murray earned the win for Juanita. She pitched six and a third innings, giving up seven runs, seven hits, and striking out one. Treves took the loss for Wolverines . She tossed two innings, allowing six runs, three hits, and striking out one.

Home runs for Juanita came when Kristina Worford homered in the sixth inning and Blackburnhomered in the second inning.

Beardsley went 2-for-4 at the plate as she led the team with five runs batted in.

Juanita collected eight hits. Blackburn, Swayne, and Worford each collected multiple hits for Juanita. Juanita was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Blackburn had the most chances in the field with ten.
